Sustainable Sonoma Listening Session @ Sonoma Springs Community Hall | Sonoma | California | United States

It’s going to take more than “environmentalists” to achieve the environmental community’s goals.

Whether you agree with this statement or not, we are confident that you know things we don’t.

That is why we would like to invite your organization to a Listening Session as part of Sustainable Sonoma.

This Listening Session for environment, conservation, and open space interests is Hosted by Transition Sonoma Valley.

This is an invitation to take part in creating the most ambitious vision of the future of Sonoma Valley’s natural environment. The goals and priorities you bring to this meeting will go in front of the Sustainable Sonoma Council, which is made up of 25-30 community leaders from a wide spectrum of interests in Sonoma Valley.

In the fall, this group will be tasked with setting action priorities based on the “highest common denominator” goals we can set together as a community. We want to hear your thoughts around questions like this— Many people in Sonoma Valley value our rural character—wide-open spaces, limited development, beautiful wildlife and plant communities.

What do you think is most important when it comes to our natural environment and your quality of life in Sonoma Valley?

Below are some of the questions are being asked of interest groups and the general public throughout Sonoma Valley. This is an opportunity to hear from your peers about their big picture vision of the future of Sonoma Valley. In addition to interest-based listening sessions, we are holding multiple public listening sessions throughout Sonoma Valley, which you are welcome to attend.

We encourage you to invite your staff, friends and followers. The next public listening session is geared for the southern Sonoma Valley, including the City of Sonoma, though all are welcome.

Future public listening sessions will be in Glen Ellen and Kenwood.

We look forward to hearing what you have to say!

The mission of Sustainable Sonoma is to make positive change in Sonoma Valley by aligning the interest groups in the community towards shared goals and measurable targets, and supporting efforts that achieve those goals. This common agenda will align our activities and accelerate success in achieving a just, thriving, sustainable community.

Below are the questions that will be asked at the listening sessions. You are welcome to contribute your ideas online!

  • What do you most want to see when it comes to having a healthy community full of healthy people?
  • What do you think is most important when it comes to our natural environment and your quality of life in Sonoma Valley?
  • What do you think is most important for our children and youth?
  • What matters most to you about the future of our community?
  • How could we change our transportation system to be better for everyone?
  • What would a healthy, diversified and resilient economy look like in Sonoma Valley?
  • What do you believe is most important for our community when it comes to housing availability and affordability?
